It’s with sadness and relief we announce the passing of Marilyn Welsh (Head) at Prairie Lakes Grande Prairie.

Marilyn went to school in Grande Prairie, graduating in 1962. Marilyn was a gifted athlete - figure skating was her best sport – She and her sister were often figure skaters for figure skating events in the Peace County. She also participated in cross country skiing and curling. Marilyn worked part time in the jewelry store and the movie theatre. She also worked many years as a dental receptionist. Marilyn loved Jasper Park and spent a number of Christmas holidays there. The boys learned to down hill ski and she cross country skied. It was always quality time in the summers spent at the ranch camping and night bonfires and eating outdoors.

Marilyn married Edward Welsh October 8, 1983. They enjoyed many years of volunteering at Evergreen Park’s horse race meets. Also at the same time, racing at Northlands and Calgary.

Marilyn was admitted to Points West in 2011 with a diagnosis of Dementia-Alzheimer’s. The family would like to thank the Staff at Prairie Lakes for their caregiving over 15 years.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Edward Welsh, sons Duane Briand (Rose), Mark Briand (Bonnie); grandchildren Emily, Daniel and Olivia. Brother Gerald and Sister Lorna; stepsons Kenneth, Michael and Larry Welsh.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Walter and Minnie Head. Brothers Gaalen Head and Brian Head.

A grave side service will be held at Gerald Head’s place located by the Simonette River August 1 at 2:00pm.
